“We do not step into their world to change it; we stand at the edge to witness it—They simply exist—free, fierce, and unyielding—on the edges of a world that keeps trying to tame them." - Brooke Jennings, Wild Horse Advocates
An Unspoken Oath
There are places out on the high country where the wind speaks in shadows and the dust never truly settles. Long before I ever carried a camera into the valleys, I was just a quiet observer in a sacred land.
Then came the moment that changed everything. A sudden flash of movement against the ridge. The thunder of hooves beating against hardpan earth. The piercing, unmistakable eye-contact of a band stallion holding his ground. In an instant, without a word spoken, they stole my heart. They didn't just capture my imagination—they rewrote my purpose.
--- I went from living a life surrounded by domestic horses, to desiring a life lived for the wild. In 2024 the shift began. My free time was now spent, observing these magnificient beings. Studying the minds of wild horses through equine psychology, behaviour, body language and communications.
Built on Dust, Weather & Time
This work was born on the long, bone-jarring dirt roads where the pavement ends and a long hidden world begins.
It was forged in hours—that turned into days, which turned into years—sitting motionless in freezing timber, baking in the summer heat, and waiting out blinding squalls just to earn a single second of their trust, to have their permission to sit in their presence, to become one with nature.
To document a wild horse is not to chase them. It is to surrender your comfort to the weather, to blend into the grass, and to wait until the range forgets you are human.
The Patience: Endless, silent hours tracing the subtle shifts of wind and light.
The Elements: Rain, mud, freezing frost, and relentless dust—the price of admission to their world.
The Truth:Capturing their raw, unscripted lives exactly as nature intended—unfiltered, dignified, and wild.
Bringing the Range to the World
The wild horses of these hills carry stories written in scars, torn manes, and quiet glances, But their world is fragile, and their freedom is a quiet war fought every single day.
Through Wild Horse Advocates, my mission is singular: to pull back the veil on the high country and bring the soul of the wild ones directly to you. To create fine art that doesn't just decorate a wall, but stops you in your tracks and forces you to feel the unbridled heartbeat of the wilderness.
I sit in the dirt so their stories can stand tall. I endure the weather so their legacy is never forgotten.
Let the forest claim your shadow, Let the wilderness forget your presence.—Let the wild horses finally show you who they truly are.
